Bob Lasken, PGA - Biography

Bob Lasken has been teaching professionally for more than 12 years and has taught over 30 touring pros, 40 college players and hundreds of junior golfers. He was named among the Top 20 Instructors in the Nation Under 40 Years of Age by Maximum Golf Magazine in 2001. He has taught two of the last six U.S. Junior Champions, James Oh and current champion Sihwan Kim.

Lasken’s students have won on the Nike, Nationwide, Japan, Hooters, Golden State, AJGA and Southern California junior tours. Bob's student, Jin Park, beat Tiger Woods record for the youngest to Qualify for the Nissan Open and Bob taught James Oh when he beat Bobby Jones record for the youngest player to qualify for the US amateur.

Before beginning his teaching career, Lasken won the Junior World Championship 13-14 age division, The California State Junior Championship, State CIF at Pebble Beach and the National High School Championship in Lexington, Kentucky 1984. He was the medallist in the California State Amateur. An All-American at UCLA and playing captain of UCLA, he helped lead the Bruins to the NCAA Championship in 1988. As a professional, he was the leading money winner on the Golden State Tour and he won over 20 professional tournaments. While playing in the 1991 US Open at Hazeltine Golf Club, he recorded two eagles in one round, a U.S. Open record.
